Abstrakt
Esej
primárně odráží výsledky americké studie z roku 2013, kterou se ve článku Privacy Management on Facebook: Do Device
Type and Location of Posting Matter? pod záštitou odborného časopisu Social
Media + Society zabývá studentka Komunikace na University of California
Jennifer J. Suh a profesorka Komunikačních studií na Northwestern University
Eszter Hargittai. V eseji prezentuji výsledky výzkumu, reflektované vlastními
názory a zkušenostmi z pohledu uživatele sociální sítě Facebook jakožto jedince
s právem ovlivňovat zabezpečení svého profilu. Cílem eseje je sumarizovat míru
znalostí ochrany soukromí na Facebooku skrze její jednotlivé faktory, a zasadit
tyto poznatky do kontextu s tematickou či odbornou literaturou z oblasti
sociologie a nových médií.
Abstract
The
essay primarily reflects the results of a US study of 2013, which is inquired into
in an article Privacy Management on
Facebook: Do Device Type and Location of Posting Matter?, published under
the auspices of a scholarly journal Social Media + Society. The authors of said
article are Jennifer J. Suh, a student of Communication at the University of
California, and Eszter Hargittai, professor of Communication at the
Northwestern University. In my essay I present the results of my own research,
where my opinions and experience (as a user of Facebook eligible of managing
security of my personal Facebook profile) were taken into account as well. The
aim of my essay is to summarize the degree of knowledge of protection of
privacy on Facebook through it’s particular factors, and to put these findings
into broader context through a comparison with corresponding sociology and new
media literature.
