E-knihy v dnešní době: Tři náhledy na možné interakce tištěných a elektronických knih

Anotace (abstrakt)

 Tato esej vychází z článku „E-readers and the death of the book: Or, new media and the myth of disappearing medium“ autorů Andrea Ballatore a Simone Natale, který byl publikován v časopisu „New Media and Society“ v roce 2016. Článek reaguje na množící se debaty o konci tištěných knih. Autoři v článku představují tři různé pohledy na možný vztah tištěných a elektronických knih. První přístup naznačuje, že tištěné knihy jsou ohroženy a jejich zánik by mohl mít katastrofální důsledky. Dle druhého přístupu budou tištěné knihy zničeny digitálními médii, ale (na rozdíl od prvního přístupu) zánik tištěných knih bude mít osvobozující účinky. Dle posledního přístupu tištěné knihy nezaniknou, ale budou koexistovat s digitálními médii s nejasnými účinky.   

V eseji je také krátce shrnuta historie vývoje e-knih a e-čteček a nastíněna jejich současná situace. V poslední části eseje jsou představeny výsledky mini výzkumu týkajícího se čtení e-knih na Klatovsku, který provedla autorka této eseje.

Abstract

This essay is based on the article "E-readers and the death of the book: Or, new media and the myth of disappearing medium" by Andrea Natale and Simone Ballatore, which was published in the magazine "New Media and Society" in 2016. Article responds to the increasing number of debates about the end of printed books. The authors present three different views on the possible relationship between printed and electronic books. The first approach suggests that printed books are endangered, and their demise could have disastrous consequences. According to the second approach, printed books will be destroyed by digital media, but (unlike the first approach) demise of printed books will have a liberating effect. According to the last access printed books will not perish, but they will coexist with digital media with unclear effects.

The essay also briefly summarizes the history of the development of e-books and e-readers and outlines their current situation. The last part of the essay introduces
a small research that is related to reading e-books on Klatovsko conducted by the author of this essay.
