In 2008 an anonymous hoaxer created fictional football player Masal Bugduv, who appeared in a half year time in The Times article “Football’s Top 50 Rising Stars”. This paper describes his way from the birth to disclosure along with reasons of his success. It compares this story with another from the Czech Republic, which is similar, and it contains small research about Czech sport journalists’ attitude to unreliable internet sources.
