Abstract: This
essay deals with the problem of cyber bullying. It describes and summarizes two
research papers that also deal with the theme of cyber bullying – the first
article is called Cyberbullying among youngsters: profiles of bullies and
victims and the authors are Heidi Vandebosch and Katrien Van Cleemput who both
work at the Department of Communication Studies at the University of Antwerp,
Belgium. The second article is called Cyberbullying and its correlation to traditional
bullying, gender and frequent and risky usage of internet-mediated
communication tools and its author is Özgür Erdur-Baker who works at the Middle
East Technical University, Turkey. This essay compares both articles and also
provides my own view onto the problem of cyber bullying which is no longer a
marginal problem among youngsters and it deserves more attention that it has
today. And with the further development of internet based technologies the
danger of cyber bullying is becoming more of a threat to our society.
