Vliv festivalu Burning Man na společnosti v Silicon Valley



Abstrakt



Tato esej se váže k článku Freda Turnera, který byl publikován v New Media & Society s názvem Burning Man at Google: a cultural infrastructure for new media production. Článek Freda Turnera odhaluje způsoby, kterými festival Burning Man, odehrávající se každé léto v nevadské poušti, podporuje nové formy produkce vznikající v Silicon Valley a především v Googlu. Esej shrnuje obsah článku, doplňuje základní informace o Burning Man festivalu a následně se věnuje případnému vlivu festivalu na fungování firem v Silicon Valley.

Abstract


This essay is based on article published by Fred Turner in New Media & Society: Burning Man at Google: a cultural infrastructure for new media production. Fred Turner’s article explores the way in which festival Burning Man, which takes place every summer in a desert in Nevada, supports new forms of production emerging in Silicon Valley and especially in Google. Essay summarize the article, completes basic informations about the Burning Man festival and Google itself and consider the impact of festival to the industries in Silicon Valley.

Crowdfundingové aktivity kultúrno-umeleckej produkcie

Abstrakt

Táto seminárna práca sa zaoberá problematikou crowdfundingu ako činnosti, financovania projektov kultúrno-umeleckej produkcie. Pre účely tejto práce bol pojem crowdfundingu ukotvený v teórii Axela Brunsa a Henriho Jenkinsa. Východiskom práce je analyzovaný článok Davidsona a Poora, ktorí sa zaoberali bariérami využitia crowdfundingových platforiem umelcami.

Abstract


This seminar paper deals with the crowdfunding problematic as an activity of project financing, in the area of cultural and art production. For the purpose of this paper was term of crowdfunding grounded in the theory of Axel Bruns and Henri Jenkins. The starting point of this paper is analyzed article of Davidson and Poor, which dealt with the barriers of using crowdfunding platform by artists.

ÚNIK DO REÁLNÉHO SVĚTA. OTÁZKY JAK A PROČ SE MĚNÍ INTERAKCE ONLINE KOMUNIT



ABSTRAKT

Tato práce představuje případovou studii autorské dvojice Cuihua Shen a Charlese Cage s názvem Exodus to the real world? Assessing the impact of offline meetups on community participation and social capital. Ve studii autoři zkoumají dopad osobních srazů na fungování online komunit. V teoretické části vycházejí ze třech konceptů: online komunity, offline srazů a sociálního kapitálu. Tato práce zařazuje studii do konkrétního paradigmatického kontextu mediálních studií, kriticky ji zhodnocuje a na jejím základě předkládá vlastní příspěvek k tématu fungování online skupin. Zatím co představená studie si pokládá otázku "jak" a zabývá se formou interakcí, tato práce se pokusí o vysvětlení otázky "proč" a představí význam, který konkrétní online komunita sleduje.

ABSTRACT

This work introduce a case study of Cuihua Shen a Charles Cage named Exodus to the real world? Assessing the impact of offline meetups on community participation and social capital. This study represents assessment of the impact of meetups on online community participation. In the theoretical part, the authors come out with three concepts: online comunity, offline meetups and social capital. This work classifies the study into specific paradigmatic context of media studies and it tries to critical evaluation. On that basis this work presents its own assessment of the topic. While the study asks the question "how" and deals with the structure of interaction, this paper attempts an explanation of the question "why" and introduces the semantic interpretations of interaction by particular online community.

Vliv institucí digitálních médií na formování digitální identity: Intimní příběhy mládeže na sociální síti Netlog

Abstrakt


Tato esej pojednává o problematice vlivu institucí digitálních médií na budování identity uživatelů na sociálních sítích. Hlavním tématem je proces sebe-reprezentace a digitálního storytellingu a jejich možných omezení ze strany digitálního media jako distributora procesu mediace jednotlivců v digitálním prostředí.  Esej pojednává o studii Are digital media institutions shaping youth’s intimate stories? Strategies and tactics in the social networking site Netlog od belgického autora Sandera De Riddera, ve které se zaměřoval na prezentaci intimity, genderu a sexuality mládeže na belgické sociální síti Netlog.


Abstract

This essay discusses the the impact of digital media institutions on the subject of building users‘ identities within social networking sites. The main theme is the process of self-representation and digital storytelling and possible constraints comming from the digital media as a distributor of the mediation process of individuals in digital environment. The essay deals with the study Are digital media institutions shaping youth’s intimate stories? Strategies and tactics in the social networking site Netlog by Belgian author Sander De Ridder, which was focused on the presentation of youths intimacy, gender and sexuality within Belgian social networking site Netlog.
